Ani plays Quake: Dissolution of Eternity (Part 1)
0The 2nd mission pack for Quake 1, done by Rogue Entertainment. My least favorite in the line of official Quake expansions. Not for similar reasons like I had for Ground Zero or Final Doom for difficulty. I don't like it for how claustrophobic and confusing most of the maps are and some of the new monsters are kind meh.
I do like some of the traps though like the swinging axes and buzzsaws. The new firing modes for my default weapons are a neat inclusion top. Minus One for the Thunderbolt. Not as impactful as regular firing. There is one stand out enemy that isn't a reskin of an existing monster, The Wrath. It's a vore but can fly, it's tougher and the projectiles are even more tougher to avoid.
Electric eels are kinda trash and shouldn't be spongey to kill.
And thankfully the expansion has actual bosses that isn't some static enemies. I don't count the miniature Cthons (Hephaestus) since they're just obstacle enemies.
This expansion has a unique theme that isn't always a tech base or Lovecraft Castles. It has Egypt themed levels. But nah some maps are difficult to navigate and we'll get there when we hit part 2.
