Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation
Playthrough | Finale: Challenge Zoma & Bring A New Dawn
It comes to this. The final battle is upon us. We have what is needed to reach Zoma's Castle.
For anyone wondering, this is the exact same place that was in Dragon Quest I and II. Only difference is that in DQ2, you head there to get information. Plus the Dragonlord there would rather not want to deal with Hargon and Malroth.
Here though, you have to contend with a lot of tough foes and they will wipe you out if you are not prepared. My party consists of a Hero, 2 Sages and a Martial Artist. Why this setup? I don't know but having two Sages mean fast buffing and healing. You're going to need that.
We eventually learn what happened to Ortega, the hero's father. Sadly his fate ends at the hands of the King Hydra. In his dying breath, he doesn't recognize the hero. It's been too long and yet he asks us to go back to Aliahan to let his son know what happened. But it also means we have a boss rush of sorts. You face three back-to-back boss fights. First is the King Hydra. Second is the Soul of Baramos and finally is the Bones of Baramos. All three of them are tough. Make sure to heal yourself up after every fight. Not to mention take advantage of using your Prayer Rings to restore your MP. Besides, if you've gotten a lot of these things then this makes the dungeon very trivial.
At the end you face off against Zoma. The first thing you need to do is use the Sphere of Light. This will severely weaken him but he will still kick your butt. Zoma has the ability to use a disruptive wave that will negate all your buffs. The moment that happens, buff immediately. He can attack your party two times so you will need to be at your a-game. Have your healers heal and buff your party while your attackers go on the attack. Your hero can use Omniheal but use it only when necessary. It's a tough fight but it's not impossible. It can be annoying but in the end, he will go down and go down hard.
With Zoma defeated, he states that as long as there is light, darkness will exist. He then sees what's to come. Another darkness will rise and another will threaten the world. With his dying breath, he falls. But the castle starts to collapse as a result. The party escape only for them to fall into a chasm. They end up in a cave and thankfully no monster encounters. To make matters worse, the opening that connects both Alefgard and the Overworld is closed meaning that the party can't return back.
The party return back to Tantegel and after a needed rest, they head for the castle. Everyone is overjoyed by this victory and the King is pleased that Arusu and his party have succeeded. The king then bestows the title of Erdrick to the fair hero Arusu. Celebrations happen throughout Alefgard. Everyone enjoys a needed celebration. But as for Arusu, he simply disappears. He leaves behind his sword, shield, armor and an amulet. They would be handed down through the generations setting up the events of Dragon Quest.
That's it for Dragon Quest 3. It's been a hell of a journey this is but I loved it. When next we meet, we see the tales of various individuals: Ragnar, Alena, Torneko, Maya, Meena, the hero Solo and even the dark lord Psaro. All of their individual tales share no connection but combined, it tells a story in a new world. Next time, once I get my New 3DS XL capture board, we will be starting up Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen.
Thanks for watching.
