If you break every chest you see, the health & mana will disappear after you leave the level but chests stay so just break open the chests as you need them. That way you have plenty of health & mana when you backtrack through the level later for respawning enemies. You will still get plenty of gold coins in other ways. The bigger chests that you have to open manually will always have more gold & essence. You'll have the disrupt spell later for destroying red crystals found in the world for extra supplies & enemies will occasionally drop them during battle. Also be on the lookout for the red emblem treasure chests as they will have weapons, experience or gold coins.
