Lots of loot takes a long time to sort through. You know... Consider my party running into a level 1 party. I have throw away items that would make them soil themselves out of excitement if I gave them as gifts. Let's face it, giving away 10,000ish GP worth of stuff isn't exactly going to hurt my bankroll.

I mean how excited would a level one fighter be to get some gauntlets of ogre power?

Too bad you can't attract followers in this game. There's a massive morale boost when the NPC is given something magical and useful.
