I was given an Early Access key for MONSTER SANCTUARY by the publisher, Team17, to check the game out and I really liked it! Here's my review of Monster Sanctuary, a "Metroidvania" style platformer that has an extremely solid RPG monster-driven gameplay experience inside of it. "Wait, like Pokémon?" you may ask; sort of, but its battle system is 3-vs-3, it's quite fleshed out, and it felt very balanced with lots of neat strategies.
This review shows my impressions after my first playthrough of the Early Access beta, which launches August 28, 2019 on Steam. The full version should launch in 2020. It took me 9 hours to get through the Early Access, which was quite a lot of gameplay, and there were so many monsters I would have loved to try out so it's fun even for repeat playthroughs.
