Welcome back to The Game Collection!
This year for Halloween I wanted to return to the series that has captured my imagination and had horror elements in spades, and considering that it is now December, I think we all know that didn't exactly go as planned. I'm proud to uphold this YouTube tradition of specials coming out weeks too late. And now that Christmas is just around the corner, I think we can still salvage this whole situation. Is Shadow Hearts Covenant the perfect game for the Christmas Season? Let's find out! I am SuperDerek and this is Shadow Hearts II Covenant!
Shadow Hearts covenant is a direct sequel to Shadow Hearts, which to recap was itself a successor to Koudelka. Each of these games was developed by the team Sacnoth, and in the case of Shadow Hearts Covenant, published by Midway. This is a direct sequel to Shadow Hearts 1, meaning the game features the same main character Yuri, the same world, the events of Shadow Hearts Covenant follow those of the first, etc. So, this means that yes, to get the full experience, I recommend playing through Shadow Hearts 1 first. As always though, I'll avoid spoilers for this review. Anyway, both games can be pretty steep, so hopefully Santa thinks you've been good this year and brings you some good games. I'd hate for you to end up with a lump of Quest 64 in your stocking.
