SK Reviews: Victoria 3 Whose Story Is It?
18It's taken me a while, but I've finally collected some thoughts on Victoria 3, whether it's good, actually and put together some disparate thoughts on what the game is about, how the choices the developers made impacted that and the differences that's caused between Victoria 2 and Victoria 3. I also talk a lot about my Ottoman Empire playthrough, which is where all of the in game footage is from, you can catch me on Twitch if you like what you see there.
I go through 3 key areas in the review section, what hasn't worked, what can be improved relatively easily and what did work about the game, before I weight up whether I think, purely as a video game, that it's good and worth your time/money.
In the essay section I try to think about how, as a sandbox game, Victoria 3 presents narrative through the mechanics, what that narrative is, what it's impacted by and whether it's better at portraying more places than Victoria 2 was, which was heavily focussed on a specific type of imperial power that existed in the time period depicted by the games.
