The NOKIA N-GAGE - Variety Stream | Gameplay and Talk Live Stream #204
80Here's a topic I've been meaning to cover for a while--The Nokia N-GAGE. The N-GAGE was a handheld released in 2003 by Nokia. It was a capable device, providing close to PS1 quality visuals. However, with some poor design choices for its original launch model, the platform wasn't taken very seriously. A year later Nokia released the QD model (which we are playing on today) that addressed most of the platform's problems, but it struggled to regain any traction. Nokia supported it for another two years and released some solid software, some of which we will be showing off today. Unfortunately as of doing this stream, there still isn't a Nokia N-GAGE emulator. As a result we have to do this the old-fashioned way, pointing a camcorder at the handheld's screen. I have the unit clamped into place and so hopefully it's not too wobbly. Expect at least a little bit of movement here and there as I swap out carts.
Check out time codes here. The Nokia N-Gage as a platform generally has a poor reputation, so the idea of this stream was to try to show off some cool games available on it. Not all hold up great, but when it was current on the market they were pretty sweet to have in a combo device like the N-Gage.
