"Top Gear Pocket" for the Game Boy Color is a racing video game released in 1999. Developed by Tantalus Interactive and published by Kemco, it is part of the "Top Gear" series. The player races at various locations across the globe, with a selection of cars to choose from, each with its unique attributes in terms of speed, handling, and acceleration.

The game includes multiple game modes, such as championship mode where players compete in a series of races to become the ultimate champion, time trial mode for setting lap records, and multiplayer mode for racing against friends via link cable. The controls are relatively simple, with players using the directional pad to steer their car and buttons to accelerate, brake, and activate power-ups.

Initially there's only three tracks avalable. Progressing through the ranks in the championship unlocks additional tracks though, with secret ones revealed upon completing the first six. Tracks range from familiar cityscapes to more exotic locales like Snowland and the slippery Pole, where ice makes for treacherous driving. Each race pits you against eight opponents, each starting with a head start. In Time Trial mode, you're on your own.

The cars are small, minimally animated, and very similar to each other. Only in later stages do differences in handling become apparent, with some cars offering slightly better maneuverability. Track designs are a bit uninspired too, with long stretches of straightaways punctuated by occasional corners or jumps. Still, "Top Gear Pocket" offers an enjoyable racing experience, with engaging gameplay, diverse tracks, and a variety of cars to choose from.
