NOTE: This is a fan-made work, made out of love for Geoff Knorr, Roland Rizzo, and everyone involved with the Civilization VI soundtrack. This piece of music is not used in any mod for Civ 6. This video is not intended to offend any culture, race, or religion. Thank you.

I could think of no better way to finish off this week. These covers are legit some of my favorite creative projects I've done, and you can track my skill increasing as you go through the playlist (Still not *that* good though). Posting these have lead to a lot of great opportunities, and I am grateful that people seem to enjoy them.

This theme is based of "Hej Sokoly" - A Polish/Ukrainian folk song literally translating to "Hey Falcons". Creation of the song is disputed, but it seems to have originated in the early 19th century, and has been used as both a Polish and Ukrainian national tune since. I decided to use it represent Ukraine because, well, Poland's already in the game and Ukraine isn't. (Which is a crime btw, did you know they're the largest European country not represented in civ in any way? No even a city-state, dang)

This suggestion came from a member of our discord server, if you'd like to suggest a cover feel free to join. "Oy u luzi chervona kalyna" was also suggested, but I decided not to use it given the topical nature of that song. (Although, a phrase from it is featured in the Industrial theme).

I did a lot of research into Eastern European folk music for this, and hopefully that shines through in the Medieval era theme. A lot of it plays with tempo, which is hard to replicate in digital software, but I think I did alright. A big focus in each rendition was using the string section to replicate percussion, which I think's pretty epic. I took a lot from the game's Russia and Hungary themes for this. Additionally, I wanted to experiment with having the Industrial theme sound like a game trailer, and I think I did alright with it.

Representing this cover is St. Olga. While the Kievan Rus' weren't *technically* Ukrainian, a lot of her institutions, particularly religious ones, were vital to the later Ukrainian identity. Plus, she's a very well-known and kinda awesome historical figure. The background's a painting of the Ukrainian landscape, but if you squint, it may resemble something else...
