The scale used in this piece is interesting; it keeps going back to a minor 1 to major 4 vamp, which would normally imply the Dorian scale, but since it also uses plenty of major 5 chords and raised 7ths, that would put it in the melodic minor. It changes keys fairly often, making it hard to get one’s footing, and at the end it obliterates any concept of key with chromatically ascending major chords. Normally I would end a piece that normally loops like this with a big loud minor tonic chord, but instead I decided to not resolve any of the tension and used a fade out, which fit the song better.
