So your bored with the VR thing and it hasn't even arrived? Well Wearables are the new thing.. which got me thinking , I have been wearing Microsoft Band now for a month, looking for a way to introduce it to VR and HMD use .. Here I use Microsoft Band to monitor my heart rate in real time over the course of a couple of brief VR encounters with Giger's finest and one of the scariest games ever right? So let's use real time heart rate monitoring to test the actual fight and flight response , you know if you really thought their was a monster under your bed or a 10 ft Alien that bled acid standing infront of you in reality it would cause the release of Adreneline ( epinephrine) your heart rate would rise.. if you really felt fear .. so watch what happens to my heart rate and you see something bizzare .. my HR actually starts off high in anticipation and then decreases over time even with multiple alien encounters.. Fascinating .. now I can call BS on all that presence nonsense , true VR happens when we elicit and feel the exact same hormonal and clinical responses to simulated encounters like this . Using HRM we can actually measure the quality of that presence .. and how close our games and HMDs are getting to true and not PR VR .. So JC .. what do think ? This is just the first of many tests .. by the way the 10 minutes of gaming burnt 4 calories.. but like who's counting .. well your Microsoft Band is ! It actually throws up a chart to the cloud .. when I have enough data I should be able to judge which VR games elicit real responses ..
