Particulate filters remove dust and other particles from the air, in a NBC filter the particulate layer is the Nuclear and Bacteria protection layer.
Chemical vapours are stopped by the charcoal filter which will be covered in the next video.
Particulate filters come in several different ratings but you should always buy P3 filters or equivalent, meaning they can stop very fine hazardous dusts and asbestos.
