Ben Irving, the lead producer on anthem, has now left Bioware after 8 years. With Anthem being his game more or less, this seems to paint a rather dark future for Anthem, and it seems like the game may actually be put on ice soon. I hope this isn't true, despite my grudge against this game, I would like to see Anthem make a No Man's Sky Style Comeback, but only time will tell!

I saw that the lead producer of Anthem,Ben Irving , is leaving Bioware after working at the company for 8 years. No I don’t think Anthem, is at all in a good spot right now, but at least it garnered a small amount of traction, with its recent cataclysm update. Now even the few fans and hopeful consumers that do remain, have been dealt another blow. There’s already been so many employees that have left Bioware for obvious reasons, during anthem awful 7-year development, where employees would literally have to leave work due to their poor health, from constant stress. Mark Darrah and Mike Gamble have already moved on to Dragon Age 4, but Ben Irving was in charge on Anthem, and now on twitter he has formally announced his departure, and had this to say

“After 8 amazing years at BioWare, I have made the decision to move on, and have accepted an exciting opportunity at another gaming company. Since the first time I played Baldur’s Gate many, many years ago, BioWare was the dream place I always wanted to work.
I will forever be grateful, to all the people who gave me the chance to work on great products, with amazing people. I believe Anthem has a bright future - there is a great team working on it, and I look forward to following its progress (and playing it!) from the sidelines.
I have really enjoyed interacting with the Anthem community - Streams, Twitter and Reddit. Through the good times,and the tough times. You all are in great hands with @Darokaz and @UNTDrew (and have been for some time now). I wish nothing but the best for all of you. Ben.”

Now many fans are now saying, that they think this maybe marking the true end of anthem, even though Ben has tried to specifically say , that he’s leaving it In the good hands of Jesse Anderson, and Andrew Johnson. This is a little odd to me though, as these two guys aren’t exactly game directors, instead their community leads. Now in the other anthem video I’m working on, I was already talking about how Anthem hasn’t really had that big revival moment, that many other games such as destiny , and no mans sky have had. No man’s sky had substantial updates a couple months later, and immediately promised more to come, free of charge, Destiny 1 had the taken king , which was an overhaul and redesign across all areas of the game, even though it was a $40 upgrade, and Anthem has had one new strike like activity, and a newly added horde mode, that’s on a time limit. The new loot and everything is great in it is great, and I always appreciate new content, but after 6 months, I and many others have expected much more from this game. The roadmap, even though its gone through several delays, and now has no times attached to it, does still state that the game is supposed to have 2 more free expansion acts, to be introduced to the game.

And EA still claims to have faith in the franchise, and has even stated it will be continued for 7-10 years, along with it having multiple entries, but those announcements were awhile ago, and its not clear if that’s still the plan or not. While its still questionable how much of anthems shortcomings , and poor management was due to Ben Irving, his departure still amplifies the questions of whether or not this game actually has a future.
