Apple Power Mac G5 - What's it like to use now?
The best PPC computers Apple released are the Power Mac G5 series. The last of the Apple computers to use the Power PC processors before introducing Intel chipsets. These computers hit the market from 2003 - 2006 before the Mac Pro was introduced. The Mac Pro used the same aluminium-style case and finally gave Apple users a pro-desktop running Intel processors.
The transition from the Apple Power Mac G5 to the Mac Pro took Apple the longest, introducing Intel-based iMac's, Macbooks and the Mac Mini first. Technically, this makes the the Power Mac G5 not only the most powerful Apple computer running PPC, but also the longest supported during the transition phase.

EDIT: I talk about cable management in the video. It should be noted the monitor has two USB ports on the back that can be used for the keyboard/mouse. You literally just need One plug in for power, one plug out for screen/USB combo.

So why would anyone want a PPC Apple computer now? There's a few reasons. The G5 is the final PPC Apple used after the G4 and the G3, first introduced with the iMac. The G5 is very compatible running older programmes and even supports Classic Mode, where you can run classic Mac (OS9) applications.
The best part? PowerPC applications are considered (well and truly) abandonware. It's incredibly easy to find applications, games and programmes to download, try and use.

I'll look at a few of my favourite games and applications right here int he video, including the Adobe Suite of Tools, Warcraft 3, Marathon, Alien vs Predator and Final Cut Pro.
The Power Mac G5 was considered the pinnacle of PPC computing when it was first released, and it certainly isn't quite the workhorse anymore, but there's still a lot of incredibly practical ways to use this machine. If you can find one at a good price, take it for a spin.
