Borderlands 2: Patched Tidal Wave- Does it still suck?!
The Tidal Wave is a unique Jakobs shotgun that is available as a quest reward for the Uncle Teddy quest. It has a unique firing pattern that is a callback to TK's Wave in Borderlands 1.
Being a Jakobs shotgun, it is at least viable in many mobbing scenarios. However, it is very weak compared to most other unique or high rarity shotguns.
Even with the buff the weapon got from the community patch, it is still a relatively weak weapon that is not at all fun to use because of its inconsistencies. The patch added base damage and magazine size to the weapon, but the spread still holds it back.
The community patch has the option to replace the weapon with the Flayer from Borderlands The Pre Sequel, so I plan to take a look at that option as well.
I am playing with the community patch which can be found here: https://mentalmars.com/game-news/borderlands-2-unofficial-community-patch/
