The Marvels significantly failed at the global box office, continuing the decreasing trend of superhero movies despite its thrilling future setup and cliffhanger finale.

Many believed that The Marvels' box office failure was mostly caused by the lack of attention the movie received as a result of the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strikes.

However, Marvel's 2024 movie releases avoided the same fate now that the strikes had ended. Regarding the movie's box office success, Disney's CEO however does not share these opinions.
