Technically Yes. However, it is a diminished form of footsies b/c you are betting on the fact that the computer will not walk up throw (an essential component of footsies that prevents someone from blocking all day). Other than that, SFV:AE's Survival Mode is an excellent way to drill/practice hit-confirms, block/whiff punishment, combos, meaty setups, anti-airs, spacing & counter poking in a controlled environment where you can take your time and observe things. It's still possible to win with gimmicks, but personally, if I'm gonna spend all this time in Survival Mode, might as play in a solid grounded way that actually improves my fighting game fundamentals.

***You might be wondering who in their right mind would still play Survival Mode in this day and age? Well, for the reasons I mentioned prior, I do think it's kinda fun if you approach it in the right way. Also, I'm mad cheap and I'm trying to unlock the Season 4 characters without spending real money hehe (Unlocked Lucia and Poison so far, just need E.Honda and I'm done). You don't get FM for completing Survival anymore but you still get Experience Points, which still translates to around 3000-5000 FM each time. If you have the patience for it, I would say it's not a bad idea to try completing some Survival Runs.

SECRET TECH: Don't tell Capcom this but there's actually a way to get infinite continues in Survival Mode without spending Fight Money (It's just a bit time consuming and involves planning ahead). The trick is when you feel the matches are getting too dangerous, press Square to Save and Quit. Exit the game completely, then go into Application Save Data Management in Settings and copy your SFV Progress Data to the Cloud or a USB drive. Now when you re-enter the game again, even if you lose, you can always exit the game, transfer the old Progress Data back to your PS4 Hard Drive, and re-enter the game. In that sense, you have essentially traveled back in time and can get your salty runback.I also tried this in the Steam/PC version of SFV and it works as well (involves going into Appdata and finding the local Progress save data of SFV). Pretty neat exploit since SFV stores some things in its online servers but other things locally.
