C&C Red Alert 2 YR Mental Omega Epsilon Mission 5: Human Shield
The fifth Mission of the Epsilon/Yuri Campaign in Mental Omega played on Medium.
Ever want to play Minesweeper in a C&C game? Rejoice, because this is basically 80% of the eintire Mission, may I remind you that there is no means of Stealth Detection in the entire Mission making it the biggest Guessing Game / Game of Memory you most likely ever played, not to mention rage inducing like nothing else if you screw up because you didn't find them all in your first sweep. In short, SCREW THIS MISSION!
Ahem... you will get 2 Psi Corps Adepts for the entire duration of this Mission, you should head to the East first to take over that lone Conscript and use him to blow up the Barrels along with the 2 Terror Drones guarding the perimeter, just scout up North using him and let him run into a Mine.
Pull your Adepts up to the North aswell towards the Hot Dog Stand, and try to get your hands on some GI's, you can potentially kill all the Terror Drones patroling the City by wating till they stop moving, and hitting them from afar as possible with deployed GI's (You will trigger enemy Sniper Drops early though so be very careful, also, if you know the location of EMP Mines take them out aswell and let the GI's rank up, a full health elite GI can tank 1 Sniper shot, so use that to your advantage to find and kill one of them early!)
Move your Adepts towards the Western Snipers location, you want to have 2 GI's for him as Meat Shields and take him over before he kills both, once under your controll undeploy him and get him out of the as fast as possible as the Pillbox will shred him in 3 shots, let your Adept tank the 2 Gun Turrets till the sniper is out of firing range.
To deal with the Sniper on the other side you need one free Adept to control one of the GI,s let the enemy Sniper fire at him and follow up on that with your own before he reloads, now you should only worry about the Snipers inisde the City itself as they will hunt for you after 5 or so Minutes, if you can gather your forces to the South Eastern part of the City they should run either into EMP Mines or Garrisoned Structures and die. (A word of warning, ALWAYS have a expendable unit like Civilians or Conscripts run infront of your units, and keep on searching the area for Mines, last thing you want to happen is miss a Mine and lose an Adept because you strayed from the path!)
Use the Sniper to carefully clear the path to all three Soviet War Factories, again, use your free Adept to take over nearby hostiles and let them "hunt" for Mines, there are also some Lasher tanks close by to some of the factories, you can use those to destroy some of the Sentry Guns guarding the Factories for easier Infiltration. Leave a Conscript alive if you can help it as will help the Allied Spies to move through the City faster once you take control of them.
Next up is to grab a tank and drive it to the Hot Dog Stand near the beginning as it will give you 2 Armor Crates and a Full Health Crate, grab them with the tank, now you gotta send your Adept that is controlling the tank close to the Allied Outpost, use the tank to draw the fire of the enemy Pillboxes for your Adept to slip by unmarred.
Now get a hold of a Spy inside the Outpost and send him to one of the Soviet War Factories, remember, NEVER STRAY OFF THE PATH YOU CLEARED EARLIER and rinse and repeat till you infiltrated all 3 Factories. (If you left one Conscript alive you can let the Spies Camoflage as Soviet Conscripts once they left the Allied Base.)
Now you got to Evac your Adepts into the Borillo located just below of the Southern War Factory, you can let the one inside the Allied base die, as long as one of them makes it you win, ditch the Sniper now if you havent already by sending him into a Mine or Turret, grab a tank to draw the fire or destroy the 2 Sentry Guns guarding the slope down to the Borillo, once the Adept reaches it, Mission Accomplished...
Seriously, this Mission made me rage so many times, that I seriously wanna punch the guy who made this in the gut, this is just beyond unfair and not to mention luck based design (unless you are REALLY PARANOID AND PATIENT enough to check every singe tile for Mines.) this took me close to 100 attemtps to get right, because there are just too many Mines to remember the locations of all them and having no means of stealth detections makes this Mission basically a kick to the balls, just give the Soviet a Tesla Trooper or something at the beginning to make the Mission much more balanced.
