6,916Here’s my video showing all paths of CastleMania, or the full playthrough if you will. Special thanks to Floppy for recording half of the parts in this. I wouldn’t have been able to put out this video this quick without him! About the level, I don’t know what to say. This has to be my personal favorite level in a long time, perhaps ever. A project like this has never been done to this scale before, and it’s a joy to play and explore it all. There are so many different parts and routes you can go through, making for a lot of entertainment. Sure, the level isn’t without its faults, for example the high object count making it difficult to load for many, and some parts being a bit annoying gameplay-wise, but I can’t help but love this conceptually. I’ve always been a big fan of levels that execute themes well, and this takes it to another level with all the different rooms there are to explore. This castle features 25 different parts by an amazing team of creators, who all executed their parts greatly, while still keeping it fresh visually. You’ve got the forest outside of the castle, the main halls, the tower, the catacombs, the sewer, and a lot more. Trying to figure out how to get to each part is a lot of fun, but since you’re here watching, I guess you’ve now been spoiled. It features 3 incredible bosses by Xender Game, each rewarding one coin. This is a pretty different type of coin that I won’t be rating in this video. The difficulty of the level ranges from Medium to Insane Demon I’d say, depending on which path you take. Huge shoutout to Serponge for this amazing idea and putting a team together to make it, and of course also all the MVPs who worked day and night to merge this crazy level together. Just take a look in the editor to see what’s up. Being a viewer of this it’s kinda hard to imagine all of the work put into it to make a level like this work, which doesn’t simply have horizontal progression part by part, but also vertically and even parts stacked on top of each other. If you don’t crash when entering the editor, that is, because you’ll probably need the 4 GB patch to do much with it. The level is actually really well optimized once you get past loading into the level, as a ton of objects are in the routes besides the one you’re going through and toggled off. In other words, the object density and thus the lag is low per part. Still, loading into a level with over 400K objects can unfortunately cause some issues for people, so we’ll see if anything happens to its Epic rating. Regardless of that, I’m sure this is a level we’ll all remember for a long time, and hopefully we’ll see more open world levels in the future.
