Chrono Trigger (SNES) - Part 15: The Origin of Machines & Sun Stone
Head into Geno Dome with Robo in your party and access the monitor and be granted access. You'll come to a travelator with some battles on it and then head through to the next room. Head N through the passage to the W and have another fight. Ask about all the options at the monitor then enter the small charge bay and enter the one by the entrance to access a room with more chests nearby.
Head back through the passage and through the door. Fight the turrets then flip the L and R switches to open the charge bay and take a charge hear to open the door to the NW. Grab the minion and check underneath for a Speed Tab.
Head to the SE and ignore the hole unless you want to grind (I go in by mistake). Head to the door N of the SE corner and nab the chests after the fight then take elevator up in the room in the SE corner. Take the turrets out and nab the chest and head W to disable the lasers and nab the chest and Magic Tab in the SE corner of that small room.
Head to the SW corner for a chest and head N for the Conveyor Belt, head out the SE door for a chest then head back to the SE and take the NW door in this room for a Power Tab in the SE and keep heading N for a battle on the next screen. Take the elevator in the next screen and you'll be in the NE section of the Travelator we ignored. Open up the NW bay first and then head to the charge point on this screen. I forgot to open the bay, so kept running out of time before I got there. You'll find chests there and a robot will follow you
to take on the one in the SW of this screen. This will distract it and you can nab the chest and second minion.
Head back up the Elevator and when you head W you'll find Robo's feminine robot friend, Atropos. You'll end up fighting her as just Robo. Even if you've neglected Robo before this, it should be an easy enough battle. Just keep above 200HP.
Beating Atropos will upgrade Robo's stats - most notably speed by 3.
Head to the SW and take the larger path with Turrets N. Place the two minions on the switches to open the door and face the penultimate boss of Phantasy Star 2. Mother Brain.
This is a very easy battle if you DON'T destroy the displays. You can status them with Stop/Sleep and Mother Brain won't do much and should go down in a few rounds. You'll get some equipment for Robo for winning and shut down the facility.
Now that I have every other sidequest but one done before the Black Omen, I can go do that for the Sun Stone. I was finding this game fairly easy (my main, and probably only criticism to be fair) so opted to leave the Sun Stone and Crono's Ultimate Weapon for last.
Head W from Geno Dome to find the Sun Palace on an island and enter, for probably the most annoying boss (not necessarily the hardest). Ruby equipment for Fire reduction/absorption is most useful here. You need to attack the flames to damage the boss, it reflects damage back at a very low rate. You should manage a few hits once you find the correct one before it spins back around. Giving this 12,000HP when you're probably getting ~1,000 per spin was a bit obnoxious. It's just long. Crono was getting healed and Marle was getting scratched. Only Ayla was taking anything resembling significant damage.
Follow the defeated boss for the Moon Stone and head back to Prehistory (you might remember hearing about a Sun Stone taking many years to charge).
Head to Sun Keep NW of the mainland on an island and place it in the light.
Head to 2,300AD and find that it's stolen.
Head back to 1,000AD and find that it's still stolen.
Head to 600AD and it's still there, and you can nab a Power Tab.
Head to 1,000AD to do some investigating.
In the SW of the main island you'll see the Mayor's Manor. They've come into good fortune (because of the Sun Stone). Head to the E and buy some Jerky then head back to 600AD to the Elder's House. Speak with the mother and give her the Jerky for free. This will make the family generous. Also, I left these two Sealed Chests to be examined now, because I knew I was coming here.
Head back to 1,000AD and the father will give you back the Moon Stone.
Place it back in the cave then pick it up in 2,300AD - now fully charged.
Lucca will use some it to make the Wondershot and her Father will give you Sun Shades.
Also, head to Guardia Castle and speak with Melchior for the Prism Specs and Rainbow.
