Chrono Trigger: The Power Of Friendship
Chrono Trigger is an all-time classic. When you’ve got the art of Dragon Ball creator Akira Toryiama mixed with the Final Fantasy game design of Hironobu Sakaguchi, you have a winning combination. The game featured mind-bending time travel, clever alternate endings, and revolutionary combat when it first launched in 1995.
But that’s not what this video is about. Beyond any sword or magic spell, the greatest weapon in Chrono Trigger is friendship. So Tony sat down with his longtime pal TL Foster, who’s a huge fan of the game, to talk about what that means. Identity and character relationships make for a touching, powerful narrative.
If you’re looking to play Chrono Trigger yourself, you have a few options. Over the years, it's been released on SNES, PS1, DS, iOS, Android, and PC. The mobile or Steam versions are probably the easiest ones to get your hands on nowadays. Soon enough, the Nintendo Switch will also be adding its sequel, Chrono Cross, to the eShop.
