Quantum Complexity: Quantum PCP, Area Laws, and Quantum Gravity

Assuming a strict form of the area law, we classify gapped ground states in 2D up to constant-depth quantum circuits. Using such circuits, these ground states can be converted into the ground states of a local commuting Hamiltonian, known as the generalized string-net Hamiltonian.
