In case you haven't saved 20 NPCs during hub defenses and progressed to the point where you have no hub defenses left in your play through, I made a video so you wont have to start a new game to get this trophy. Read below and see video for help.

So I realized at Santa Maria Mission there is an NPC John. What you have to do is lure 1 or 2 zombies through the arch entrance where John is and run up the stairs and wait for him to grapple with the zombies.
You won't see a circle on your map but you will see them dancing. Just kill the zombie and you will get an NPC save. It is tricky to lure them in.. just go out in the water (or surrounding area), there should be 3 zombies out there and slowly coax them in towards poor John. If they turn around and start going away shoot at the water near them.

If you need more just fast travel away and come back.
