Meta-Cognition, or Self-Reflection, is a key aspect of consciousness. The reflection of self-reflection is a copy of the originally presented world of perception. Concepts are representations or representations - i.e. re-representations.
This is what Schopenhauer called 'abstract representations' and involves Meta-Cognition, though consciousness is not restricted to this. Consciousness is recursive, i.e. it repeats as one goes up in consciousness with no limit, from the lowest elemental level to the greatest heights of sapient human consciousness, if not beyond. Who knows where it ends? Does it end?
