Connor spends the day searching for anomalous androids, Kara, an anomalous android who recently escaped from his master and trying to protect the girl, and Marcus helping the other androids break free. Connor is a robotic police investigator who joins a human detective on the hunt for an unusual robot. Finally there's Connor, a droid designed to hunt and destroy anomalies who have gained sentience. Not just Carla, Connor, and Marcus, but other robots and people that Alice and Carla meet along the way, such as North, Luther, Ross, Hank, and Simon.
Three protagonists throughout the game: Kara, who works as a housekeeper and becomes the head caretaker of a girl named Alice; Marcus, the household helper who transforms into the leader of sentient androids; and Connor, an advanced model developed by CyberLife to help law enforcement investigate rebel android activities, a girl named Alice Marcus, a housekeeper who transforms into the leader of sentient androids. The way Connor treats Marcus, and whether Connor joins the androids or continues to fight them, opens up different paths and very different endings. If Connor joins Marcus, Connor will travel to Cyberlife to recruit more androids during the Battle of Detroit and will encounter a copy of Connor holding Hank hostage. If Connor remains a machine, he may die forever during the Battle of Detroit if Markus defeats him.
If you go up to the 31st floor, if you fail the fast-paced event of fighting soldiers, if you fail the battle with New Connor, or if you can't convince Hank not to shoot. Connor replicates himself regularly, which means he respawns as a new model every time he dies. However, if you choose to make Connor an outlier in the "Crossroads" chapter, dying after that will mean that Connor's death is irreversible: he will be replaced by a copy of Connor, who is a machine and therefore Marcus' opponent.
While some androids may take a short time to wake up, it takes a long time for Connor to be a deviant and cast a lot of doubt on Connor's system. The character Connor can kill the Outliers and Chloe and still be the Outliers, but only if he adds to his instability every once in a while.
Death reduces software instability, whether the character Connor dies due to completing a task or making a human decision, including saving Hank from being hit. If Connor deviates but dies in "Night of the Soul" and becomes a machine again in "Battle of Detroit", the unstable software state seen when opening the flowchart still shows "Deviation".
Connor is the only character who can die multiple times without affecting the outcome of the ending. There are several places in the story where Marcus can be killed, including during the Battle of Detroit at the hands of Connor.
Kara and Alice may end up being captured by the government and sent to the droids to recall the camp during the Battle of Detroit - Kara can choose to abandon Alice and run away or stay with Alice, but if Marcus fails to clear the camp, they will both will be permanently retired. Accepting the FBI deal was just a ruse by FBI agents that would kill most of the droids on Marcus' team. For Kara and Marcus, there are scenarios in the beginning where the robot has to directly disobey a human command to achieve a certain level of free will (for example, in order to save Alice, Kara disobeys an order to not move).
