The long-awaited Bodenplatte update is here! IL-2 has been updated to version 3.201 which includes a new pilot physiology model, increased visual distance, three new flyable planes, and the AI B-25.
I've returned to flying German aircraft for a little bit even though the Allies have new planes. It is a lot scarier to fly the Axis aircraft now that the Allied aircraft have for the most part caught up to German aircraft performance. The Duck has had a special place in my library of aircraft ever since it was released as a collector's plane for IL-2 Great Battles. The Hs129 is fun to fly given its ground attack capabilities and excellent view of the ground from the pilot's front glass. However, it is quite dangerous to fly given its slow speed and under performing engines. The Hs129 not only gets its nickname for its appearance, but it is literally a sitting "duck" when engaged by other aircraft or anti aircraft batteries. The slow speed just makes flying this aircraft lethal. However, it is exciting to fly knowing how vulnerable the aircraft is, and it is a special event when I actually manage to return home after a sortie.
At any rate, CivilProtection and I decided to go on a ground attack mission in ducks. We were supported by Snow in a BF109 with gunpods and by a returning member GoGoBlaster in his Ju87 Stuka. I also try out some wing tipping. Enjoy the show!
