I miss Iwata so, so much. He didn't really contribute to the first MOTHER, but he would eventually save EarthBound from development hell and became the president of Nintendo, among many other fantastic contributions. But more importantly than that, he just seemed like a genuine good person who felt very close and I looked up to, and will always do.
"Eight Melodies" talks about the importance of love and music and how they're a universal language that can help people from all over the world (and beyond in the case of this game lel) and different cultures bond. It's as simple as can be, but I think it's a message even more important today than it was 30 years ago, when it was composed.
