Enhanced Nintendo MIDIs: "Kakariko Village" (Past/Child Link) from Zelda: Ocarina of Time
(((READ BEFORE RATING!)))
My Enhanced Nintendo MIDI collection consists of MIDI files I sequenced and routed through my Yamaha Motif ES8 keyboard, utilising its rather nice-sounding General MIDI samples. The staff view was played with Cakewalk Express and the presentation was recorded with CamStudio. All instruments use the standard MIDI patches unless otherwise noted. To follow the notes in the sequence and to ensure the best sound quality, viewing full screen in 720p (HD) is strongly advised.
This famous tune plays in past Kakariko Village, when you are Young Link. The original January 1999 MIDI, along with four others I sequenced, were some of the first in the VideoGame Music Archive after Zelda: Ocarina of Time was released. In this enhancement, the harmonica was given some modulation to make it sound more like a folk harmonica than an accordion.
[UPDATE: Click below to listen to a version without forced vibrato applied to the harmonica:
