Advances in Quantum Coding Theory
In this talk I will present a hybrid-fusion architecture for quantum error correction with the XZZX surface code. This architecture is especially effective for correcting biased-erasure noise in metastable Yb qubits. By combining fusion operations and deterministic entangling gates, this construction preserves the intrinsic symmetry of the code against the noise, leading to high thresholds and low overheads.
