This Advancing Our Vision proposal for the Department of Applied and Computational Mathematics and Statistics (ACMS) will enable the department to recruit new faculty to work in interdisciplinary fields such as cancer progression, gene sequencing, environmental monitoring through sensor networks, and the analysis of Big Data in global health efforts. Expertise like this will lead to commercial applications, as well as advantages for other research across the Notre Dame campus. It will also build upon the ACMS curriculum so undergraduate and graduate students will be ready for computational and analytical applications of the future.
