Far Cry, the series, has been running for 14 years now. First made by Crytek - a spin-off of a tech demo - and stewarded by Ubisoft since then, it’s gone from being a system hog curio to one of gaming’s most popular, reliable series.

And yet - AND YET - I will find some things to whine about in this look back at the entire series. I missed the Wii game off as my Wii wasn’t playing ball, and the arcade game because that doesn’t work well in MAME or anything. But everything else.

And, despite all of my complaints, I still ended up playing each and every game for hours on end, because devoid of the need to play them from start to finish - just dipping in and out - they’re uniformly great. Though very uniform. Especially Far Cry 5.
