Fighting Fantasy: Caverns of the Snow Witch - iOS - Full Playthrough (Optimal Solution)
An optimal solution for the TMG port of Caverns of the Snow Witch. This is an extremely hard adventure, you'll probably need a skill of at least ten to make it through. This solution should give you the best chance of success, though it's by no means guaranteed, as you're still forced into unavoidable hard battles and life or death rolls. There are some things you could change, depending on your stats, which I’ll cover below.
This is on adventurer difficulty, it's actually my first attempt at finishing that difficulty. I’d already beat hardcore hero mode and you can see my attempts at that in this playlist https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0oLoNHDuXcbQG7mqWPUB_UWKCi5SXlRV
For hardcore hero you'll have fewer provisions, so I recommend taking a potion of strength instead of luck. You'll probably need to use bookmarks to finish it on hardcore hero.
START:
Fighting the wolves is easier, but it will cost you at least 1 luck. Luck is important in this adventure, so if you think you can best the mammoth without too much fuss, go for it.
If you’re playing on hardcore hero and need to heal before the blizzard starts, do it before digging the shelter, so your provisions don’t go to waste.
It might be counter-intuitive not to take the weapons in the hut, but it will skip the crystal warrior fight, though the yeti fight will be harder. As the yeti fight is earlier, it’s better to get that out of the way, and skip the crystal warrior later. If the chips are down in the yeti fight and your luck is good, use it to make things easier.
CAVERNS:
If you kill the mountain elf, you can get two extra provisions from the goblins, otherwise you skip them. The extra provisions are useful, if your conscience can handle killing the elf.
If you have good skill and stamina and want a luck boost, it’s better to fight the ice demon, as it won't cost any luck (like avoiding it does) plus you’ll gain some.
On hardcore hero you’ll probably want to use the stamina potion just before the brain slayer, in which case you might as well run away from the cave-man, as fighting him doesn't get you anything useful. If the fight is going well and you don’t need to heal, then by all means finish him.
JOURNEY TO STONEBRIDGE:
If you have a luck potion, use it before the bird-man fight and use offensive luck in the battle to make things easier. If you don’t have a luck potion, hopefully you will have enough luck conserved to be able to use it confidently.
JOURNEY TO HEALER:
This route avoids most of the nasty stuff and gets you some healing and luck too. It’s important not to have taken too much of the Snow Witch's treasure, in case you get unlucky on the slippery rocks.
