And here we have the final stage of the Golden Deer route. It's a unique map with a unique effect via the poisonous swamp and 10 heroes powering up Nemesis (who's voiced by DW5-8 Lu Bu btw). All you really have to do here is let the initial wave of enemies come at you and then start to advance. You can make the swamp disappear by defeating one of the named mages, to make advancing easier.

The heroes, and hell Nemesis himself, shouldn't be a problem by this point. All your combat oriented units should be able to deal massive damage to them and take them down in 2-3 attacks. This is the last stage so there's no reason not to use your strongest equipment and tear through them. Even saying that, I only ended up using Failnaught once and it wasn't because I NEEDED to.

Anyways, that ends the Golden Deer route. It's my first so it's going to be more fond to me than the others no matter what. I'll have to say later in the other routes which I think is the best.

The game is stupidly easy, even on Hard. I don't like how it handles a lot of things that deviate from how FE games usually work, such as not having a crutch. I think people being able to use any weapon gives them a bit too much freedom. The early parts of the game are the hardest because you start so severely gimped compared to later on, especially on Maddening, which isn't fun at all to deal with. A game should be harder as it goes on, not easier. And, as always, I hate playing random grindy battles so I'd rather not have the option to play them. That's been a problem I've had since Awakening. It actually stopped me from playing Shadows of Valentia all the way through because that game FORCES you to play the random battles and that infuriated me. And yes, I'm aware I played a bunch of the grinding battles in this playthrough, but it's the early game where you need them and I'd been expecting a difficulty spike so I was trying to make sure I was properly leveled. I eventually stopped doing them when I realized it wasn't going to come.

Well, that's my main complaints out the way. I do really like the game as evidence by me playing it all the way and planning to play the other 2 routes + the DLC. (Not doing the Church route, it's too similar to Golden Deer) I liked wondering around the monastery and getting a lot of voiced dialogue from characters. I definitely felt a lot more invested in the characters in this game than I have in most Fire Emblems, which is good. Fun characters can save a game from a lot of its problems and I'd say 3 Houses does that effectively. The gameplay is pretty smooth and overall refined in a good way. I'd still rather play something more challenging so after beating all the routes I doubt I'll come back to play this like I would for other FE games, but it also has more impact on an initial playthrough than other FEs will leave you with.

I suppose I'm not giving a very concrete opinion on this, so I'll just say that overall, I like 3 Houses and it's fun to play. I'm not done with the game and will be getting back to it after I play something else.
