The 2007 Nintendo DS remake of the original Front Mission. This is an official release and it features a significant amount of additional content not found in the SNES version. This includes an additional 23 mission campaign for the UCS as well as several secret missions. There are numerous other differences as well.

Like with my videos for the SNES version, the shop theme is subject to some copyright abuse that I cannot do anything about except edit it out. It seems like blatant plagiarism to me but if Square isn't doing anything about it, what can I do?
I sped up the shopping as well because the time it takes adds up very quickly over the course of a playthrough. I really would have liked this aspect of the game to have improved. So tedious.

As usual, this is segmented and edited. I'm using the melonDS emulator here which supposedly is an accurate emulator.

Notes
The enemy is now capable of using items, such as chaff and flash.

The reason why I don't use chaff or flash is because it costs too much early on and late game you just do so much damage that using items is a waste of a turn when you could just remove an enemy from the field entirely.

The reason why I didn't take switch early this time around is because in the SNES version, it activated probably less than 10 times total in the entire playthrough. With weight limits, you have to give up a launcher and probably a shield to dual wield early and it just isn't worth it. Switch did wreck some key enemies but it was so inconsistent that I felt getting speed and duel early so they get as many rolls as possible to level up would result in a more consistent ability to remove units from the field.

I still could not be bothered with the arena. Nothing was done off-screen.

You can speed up the battle animations in the DS version but even with the added load time for battling, the game is faster than the SNES version already. I kept battle animations at normal speed.

Obviously, the DS's gimmick was that it had two screens. Most third party games would primarily use one screen and have the other simply supply a map or current inventory but this game actively uses both screens and the best solution I could find to display both at a relatively large and equal size was a horizontal setup.

I stuck with the same eventual strategy I used in the SNES version as I think it's the best way to approach the game. Once you get guide to level 3 or are lucky enough to roll level 4, you can reliably delete units.

I got a really hilarious string of bad rolls during the second secret mission. Real XCOM vibes. Or PTSD, depending on how you view this sort of thing.
I yelled "Mei, you're an idiot!" after she missed and her weapon arm was destroyed. The mission itself might also be one of the most difficult in the entire game due to the sheer number of enemy units combined with the terrain.
