Ghost of Tsushima - A Healer's Touch
Ghost of Tsushima - A Healer's Touch
Jin is on his way to a small village near the south seaside when he encounters a monk named Hanaoka, who pleads for his assistance in reaching a camp in the woods where the residents are in dire need of a healer. Jin warns Hanaoka of the dangers posed by Mongols and bandits, but agrees to accompany him.
As they travel together, Hanaoka asks Jin about his survival story, to which Jin reveals that he was saved by a healer named Yuna. Hanaoka shares that his mother, also a healer, had nurtured him back to health when he was a sickly child. They soon come across bandits harassing peasants about food. Jin takes care of the bandits while Hanaoka stays back. The peasants reveal that they had to abandon their farmstead due to an epidemic, leaving their food for the Mongols who later departed. However, once the Mongols left, the villagers fell ill. Jin and Hanaoka suggest that the peasants seek refuge in a nearby inn and stay indoors.
As they continue their journey, Hanaoka observes Jin's use of violence and questions his reliance on his sword. Jin either asks Hanaoka if there's another way or explains that he had no choice but to fight. Hanaoka admits that he prefers to resolve conflicts peacefully and apologizes for his comments.
On their way to Kishi Village, they are stopped by a woman named Homyo who begs for Hanaoka's help as her son is gravely ill. Jin advises Hanaoka to tend to the sick boy later as they are already delayed. Hanaoka insists on helping the boy, and Jin relents. Upon reaching Homyo's house, Jin discovers that the boy had eaten poisonous mushrooms. Jin finds river moss for Hanaoka to create an antidote, which cures the boy. Jin and Hanaoka conclude that the Mongols had been poisoning the peasants' well, causing the epidemic.
They arrive at the camp, where a peasant requests Hanaoka's help in saving his wife. Sadly, Hanaoka realizes that it is too late. He laments that he could have saved more people if they had not delayed, but Jin reassures him that they did the right thing by stopping to help along the way, leading to the discovery of the Mongols' poisoning scheme. They conclude that the antidote made from tubers can reverse the poison. Hanaoka expresses his gratitude to Jin for his assistance before getting to work.
