No Man's Sky is an open-worlds exploration sandbox. One can fly a spacecraft from planet to planet, then jump out and catalogue plants, animals, and minerals. You can buy and upgrade different ships. Each planet is littered with settlements, cave systems, and artifacts just waiting to be discovered. After all that, take a break and cook in your ice base.

Most text is available in Russian. Items are represented with icons and have tooltips which describe them and how to use them. Many of the items are real chemical elements and molecules. Analyzing plants, animals, and minerals on the planets also yields illustrative details. Once you learn the languages of the other galactic denizens, there are also dialogues. No Man's Sky does not require great reading ability to play competently, making it good for beginners.

The exosuit's notifications are spoken in Russian, informing you of filled inventories and dangerous weather. No Man's Sky is good for light exposure to spoken Russian.
