God of War (2018) Review - Fantastic, but Flawed
In Santa Monica's attempt to reboot the stinking pile of Olympus into something that could produce a new series for Kratos, the man who fell off a mountain, they managed to make a genuine knockout title for the PS4. Managing to keep the spirit of the original exploration, puzzle and impactful boss fights formula while also introducing new elements to switch the series over from being gameplay focused to story focused.
It's not a perfect game: the cast is pretty small, Kratos doesn't do much to help the story along and Atreus's dialogue is sporadic and oddly placed. The pair don't develop as much chemistry or bonding as I'd like them to be and the combat is a bit of a mixed bag. However, for having a tightly-paced, vibrant colorful open world for Kratos and Atreus to search for that tallest mountain. I'd still give this game an A. It's definitely a must-play to this day.
