A video showing the gameplay of Good Knight, ending with a short review. Good Knight is a newly released one-button bullet hell game on Steam, that will test your reactions to their limits as elaborate patterns of bullets swarm you from all sides. You will see my first impressions of the game, having never played it before.

Good Knight explores an interesting concept of gaming, how many controls are really needed? Many games these days overwhelm the player, making sure to use each and every button on its control of choice, or even worse, keyboard. The simpler times of making a game's many functions fit neatly into 4, 3, 2 or even fewer buttons has been lost, but Good Knight brings that elegance back. You will be amazed at how complex and engaging a game can be with only 1 button input controlling your character. It's truly impressive how much depth they can put into a game and the level of control the player feels they have over the game, even with just a single method of input.

Good Knight is a bullet hell game, meaning thousands (at least) of bullets will be hurling towards you at break neck speed in fanciful patterns throughout. The onslaught never ends and only increases in intensity as you approach the game's bosses. Epic boss fights are in store as your 1-hit player must take down fabled monsters with thousands of hitpoints and dozens of phases. Rarely does a game capture the David VS Goliath battle style as well as Good Knight does!

The game's backdrop focuses around the world of Filipino folk lore, a mythos that I've personally never really experienced. Exciting and wildly different enemies approach the playable in stunning, colourful animated graphics. These perfectly match with the crisp and clearly indicated bullet hitboxes to give an overall pleasing aesthetic, giving the player enough visual clarity to see where there are and what's going on even though there are literally hundreds of bullets on screen at the same time. Good Knight goes one-step further however, integrating vision obscuring mechanics to deliberately increase the difficulty of certain stages, whilst also playing havoc with camera angels to disorient the player. Difficult stuff, and all very exciting!

This game is truly challenging, and so if you're the type who likes to persevere with a game until you finally overcome it, Good Knight might be perfect for you; I know it was for me. There's only one way to tell if this game is right for you however, settle down and join me, as we take our dive deep into the world of Good Knight.

On this channel I make a variety of gaming content. Sometimes we're reviewing up and coming indie games, sometimes we're revisiting retro classics for a Let's Play. The only consistent factor is that it's all gaming, and it's all accompanied by sarcastic commentary. If that's your thing then I have links:

Hopefully you'll join me for those, and I shall see you then.

I always try to be as fair and objective as possible when making my review videos, giving some honest feedback and a bit of criticsm here and there. Remember that games these days are always subject to change so many of the things mentioned here may no longer be true depending on how old this video is.

Please leave a comment if you have any questions about this video, or suggestions for future videos. I'm always open to hearing what you guys have to say.

Thanks again for watching and please, enjoy.
