Green Hell REVIEW In 60 Seconds
Green Hell is an Early Access graduate that showed plenty of promise from day one. Its full version brings an incredible story mode, along with a bunch of new content and refinements.
You play as Jake Higgins, a researcher who is investigating a tribe in the Amazon rainforest. To say any more would be to spoil the game’s twisty, excellent narrative, which is probably the best the survival genre has to offer.
Survival innovations are aplenty, which include being able to inspect your body for ailments and needing to eat carbs, fats, and protein to perform properly.
The insanity mechanics will make your time a literal hell, so maybe don’t eat a bucket of maggots and enjoy a warm fire instead.
Green Hell is a tough game that rewards patience and forgiveness for some of its rough edges, which includes some hitching frames and a silly save system.
That said, it joins The Forest and Subnautica in the echelons of great survival games. As long as the genre keeps getting gems like this, it will do fine.
