Guardic is an interesting one. It's the second in a series of shooter games from Compile, and- well, we'll get to the point eventually. You start a stage by using "Powers" to choose your speed, wave, and option. Then you shoot up enemies in a fixed shooter sequence. Randar may appear at certain points and will offer you some goodies by giving him a certain amount of Powers. After defeating all enemies, you can move around the maze to get to a next stage to shoot more enemies. The game is a bit tough if you don't power yourself enough, but it's really fun if you have enough. Powers are replenished by collecting white dots.

The game received a sequel known as Guardic Gaiden, or The Guardian Legend outside of Japan.
