I'm personally a musician myself, but I wanted to view this skull through the eyes of someone that isn't a musician at all. I believe Martin O'Donnell wanted this to be simple to solve i.e. you didn't have to be a musician to solve it.

My ideas:
1. Bungie loved the number 7.
