Hiring talent from underrepresented groups in the industry (aka How to get hired) One Stop Business
Learn some tips on how to get hired in the film, TV, and digital media industry as an emerging producer or content creator from an underrepresented group. This session is also helpful for those who want to hire diverse talent. The presenters cover some resources you can use to post and find the talent you seek, they speak candidly about the challenges, how to avoid certain pitfalls through stereotyping, and how to be proactive in your searches and posts.
Presented by Nick Davis, Director of Engagement & Inclusion, CBC & Tonya Williams, Founder, Executive Director, Reelworld Film Festival and Screen Institute.
Moderated by Diana Chu, Compliance Officer, Canadian Audio-Visual Certification Office (CAVCO)
This session is part of the One Stop Business Workshop - Say Hello to series organized by CBC, CAVCO, and CMPA - originally livestreamed between June 10 - July 3, 2020. The goal of the series was to introduce new and emerging independent producers and content creators from traditionally underrepresented groups in the industry (women, persons with a disability, Black, Indigenous, People of Colour and LGBTQ2+) to topics related to the business and financing of TV, film and original digital content.
