RB Kelly and Cynthia Sinclair take a look at the "Lessons for Hawaii from the 2017 Atlantic Hurricane Season". It was put together by the Partnership for Pacific Resilience and Natural Disaster Preparedness Training Center. The conference took a look at the state of readiness for Hawaii for natural or man-made disasters, by hosting experts in the field. Speakers included Jennifer Sabas, of the Partnership for Pacific Resilience, Karl Kim, of the National Disaster Preparedness Training Center, Tim Manning, former Deputy Administration for Federal Emergency Management Agency, a panel moderated by Ray Tanabe, of the National Weather Service, including Dennis Hwang, of Hawaii Sea Grant, Kevin Sur, of Ohio EMA, Irvin Mason, of the Virgin Islands EMA, Carmen Concepcion, from the University of Puerto Rico, a panel moderated by Connie Lau, of HEI, and Toby Clairmont, of Hawaii EMA, including Roy Amemiya, of the City and County of Honolulu, Matt Cox, of Matson, Ron Cox, of Hawaiian Electric, Chris Crabtree, of Hawaii Healthcare Emergency Management Coalition, Jerry Dolak, of the Outrigger Resorts and the Hawaii Visitor Industry Security Association, Ernest Lau, of the Honolulu Board of Water Supply, and John Wood, of Paycom, a luncheon speech by Paxi Paster, of keystrong.org, as well as breakout session by Jeff Payne, of NOAA, Ron Kouchi, of the Hawaii State Senate, and Susan Tai, regional director for Partners for Pacific Resilience.
Think Tech also walked the floor to get the feedback from the attendees about the conference.
