Setting up a Virtual LAN (VLAN) to segment traffic is a good way to minimize broadcast traffic & control the flow of traffic. Broadcast traffic may not be an issue for a small network but if we're talking about tens or hundreds of switches or more broadcast traffic can really impact latency. Setting up a VLAN is a way to segment traffic by creating one or more VLANs on a single physical switch. For example you could keep internet traffic from Workforce 1 separated from Workforce 2 although their connected to the same switch using VLANs. . .
