0Ikaruga is a beloved top-down shoot 'em up from the early 00's that starts tricky and quickly descends into bullet hell.
It features a novel mechanic of giving the ship two modes, light and dark.You can switch between the two at any time and this affects both the shield and firing type.
The ship is unaffected by bullets matching the alignment of the shield (the ship is immune to light bullets with the light shield active and vice versa), and will absorb these attacks until it builds a special attack.
Bullets are the same alignment as the shield. Enemies are also aligned light and dark and take double damage from the opposing alignment, so it becomes a question of risk and reward if you want to be vulnerable but taking out enemies much quicker.
It is currently free on Microsoft's Argentina site!
