I finally decided to get out and try playing Cliffs of Dover single player again. I initially bought IL-2 Cliffs of Dover around the time it launched in 2011. However, the initial release was extremely buggy and poorly optimized. It was difficult to maintain reasonable frame rates with even what was considered cutting edge hardware at the time. Additionally, I found the training and reference material poorly lacking. I could not figure out how to avoid destroying my plane's engine on realistic difficulty. In IL-2 1946, I only had to worry about engine heat, but these engines needed to have manifold pressure and RPM settings constantly managed. It was certainly more realistic, but it was one of the few reasons why I put this game on the shelf for some time.
After Team Fusion's patches and reading through the helpful Chuck's Guides, I decided to give IL-2 Cliffs of Dover another try. I also downloaded ReShade to assist with the appearance of the game as well as spotting.
This is the 16th mission in the RAF campaign. This flight starts in mid-air behind a Ju-88 with the goal of intercepting it.
