Jennifer Lopez says marriage to Ben Affleck was not a 'fairytale'
Jennifer Lopez revealed that her marriage to Ben Affleck, which they rekindled two decades later, was not a "fairytale" while discussing her album This Is Me Now.
The Hollywood beauty spoke about her romance with the Argo star at the debut of her visual album, which was inspired by the couple's love story.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, JLo shared what her children, who she has with her ex Marc Anthony, thought of the portrayal of her love story with Affleck.
"I was discussing this with my kids, and they asked, 'Which parts are real and which are not?'" And I added, 'You'll think certain aspects are genuine when they aren't. And then those elements you don't think are genuine, become real." Lopez confessed.
said, "But it is inspired by a lot of the things I went through and it's really about what it has been for me to be a hopeless romantic my whole life, and some of the pitfalls of that."
Lopez admitted that, while it may not appear so, being open about her marriage to Affleck was terrifying, but it did not deter her from being as "authentic and real" as possible.
"The album that I made was very honest, about kind of wanting to capture this moment in time of reconnecting with a love," she remarked.
She went on to say, "It appears like a fairytale, but it wasn't. So I really wanted to share that aspect of the narrative. The true tale, in a sense, but not my personal narrative."
"It was kind of exciting and terrifying to explore all of it."
