You might be asking yourself this once in a while:
"How can that AAAA be an AAAAA? I only see 4 A's..."
And this is why...
This is the timing window for Judge 4:
JudgeWindowAdd=0.000000
JudgeWindowScale=1.000000
JudgeWindowSecondsAttack=0.135000
JudgeWindowSecondsBoo=0.180000
JudgeWindowSecondsGood=0.135000
JudgeWindowSecondsGreat=0.090000
JudgeWindowSecondsMarvelous=0.022500
JudgeWindowSecondsMine=0.090000
JudgeWindowSecondsOK=0.250000
JudgeWindowSecondsPerfect=0.045000
This is the timing window for Judge 7:
JudgeWindowAdd=0.000000
JudgeWindowScale=0.500000
JudgeWindowSecondsAttack=0.135000
JudgeWindowSecondsBoo=0.180000
JudgeWindowSecondsGood=0.135000
JudgeWindowSecondsGreat=0.090000
JudgeWindowSecondsMarvelous=0.022500
JudgeWindowSecondsMine=0.090000
JudgeWindowSecondsOK=0.250000
JudgeWindowSecondsPerfect=0.045000
And just for the fun of it,
I'll throw in the Timing Window for Judge 8:
JudgeWindowAdd=0.000000
JudgeWindowScale=0.330000
JudgeWindowSecondsAttack=0.135000
JudgeWindowSecondsBoo=0.180000
JudgeWindowSecondsGood=0.135000
JudgeWindowSecondsGreat=0.090000
JudgeWindowSecondsMarvelous=0.022500
JudgeWindowSecondsMine=0.090000
JudgeWindowSecondsOK=0.250000
JudgeWindowSecondsPerfect=0.045000
And Justice:
JudgeWindowAdd=0.000000
JudgeWindowScale=0.200000
JudgeWindowSecondsAttack=0.135000
JudgeWindowSecondsBoo=0.180000
JudgeWindowSecondsGood=0.135000
JudgeWindowSecondsGreat=0.090000
JudgeWindowSecondsMarvelous=0.022500
JudgeWindowSecondsMine=0.090000
JudgeWindowSecondsOK=0.250000
JudgeWindowSecondsPerfect=0.045000
We'll start things of with Judge 4 and Marvelous.
It looks like this:
JudgeWindowScale=1.000000
JudgeWindowSecondsMarvelous=0.022500
While Judge 7 looks like this:
JudgeWindowScale=0.500000
JudgeWindowSecondsMarvelous=0.022500
We'll take 1 * 0.022500 (22,5 ms) which is (duh!) 22,5 ms
But... If we take 0,5 * 0.022500 we get 11,25 ms
WHICH IS EXACTLY HALF OF 22,5 MS.
"But how does Ridiculous Timing work then?"
If you're playing with Judge 4 (Marvelous having 22,5 MS, remember?)
and adding Ridiculous Timing to it, which has 11,25 MS, EXACTLY what a Marvelous is on Judge 7.
So that would be the EXACT SAME THING as if you would have played on Judge 7 without Ridiculous Timing.
If you DO play on Judge 7 WITH Ridiculous Timing installed, you would theoretical get an AAAAAA (6 A's).
You will get AAAAA On your screenshot but also another A becuase you played on Judge 7 instead of Judge 4.
Playing on Judge 8 and getting an AAAAA (5 A's) WILL NOT be an AAAAAAA (7 A's) with Ridiculous Timing.
As far as I know, the only two Judge Difficulties you can compare like this is Judge 4 and Judge 7:
Marvelous on Judge 7 = Ridiculous on Judge 4
Perfect on Judge 7 = Marvelous on Judge 4
Great on Judge 7 = Perfect on Judge 4
So...
AAA on Judge 7 = AAAA on Judge 4
AAAA on Judge 7 = AAAAA on Judge 4
AAAAA on Judge 7 = AAAAAA on Judge 4
So just look at the "JudgeWindowScale="
and you'll see how hard/easy it is.
Judge 4: 1.00
Judge 7: 0.50
Judge 8: 0.33
Justice: 0.20
You can find all of this in your "StepMania.ini" file.
I hope this helped a lot of people and hopefully it will decrease the amount of stupid questions and statements.
