Played on ScummVM 1.7.0 (the DosBox version that comes bundled with Steam has crashing issues, and I'm more comfortable playing in ScummVM anyway) and recorded with Fraps at 60 FPS. Here's a link to the encode, just in case the video above doesn't play back as smoothly as it should (being in Youtube's 30 FPS and all, I think):

Anyway, this is a 100% run, or more specifically, an all points run (being that there's two different storyline paths to get inside the castle). I timed this run at 43:55, starting when I hit the "Play" button on the title screen, and ending as soon as I click to knock out Alhazred. Voices were also enabled, though truthfully, I'd rather they weren't (I don't care for much of the voice acting). However, the scenes with the Winged Ones' leaders can be skipped much faster via right-clicking, but this only works in speech mode, for some odd reason. Anyway, a lot of dialogue can be skipped pretty fast by right-clicking (sometimes eliminating more than one line, but not always) and mashing Enter (same effect as left-clicking). The middle mouse button was also used to quickly switch back to the walk cursor many times, instead of going through the full right-click cycle of icons.

As for the run itself, it went fairly well, though it definitely has a couple unfortunate mishaps (accidentally clicking the options menu on the first Isle of Wonder visit, almost walking away before getting the swamp ooze, and trouble flipping the spellbook pages when luring Night Mare come to mind). And of course, there are multiple instances of cycling past the needed icon, but most point and click adventure speedruns will struggle with that, I'd bet. Pre-placing the mouse where it needs to be is also something that could use refinement.

In all, I'd say a time of below 43:30 is probably doable with more practice, but I mostly did this to show off my 100% route (a pain to efficiently route due to how inter-connected the islands events are). Whether I'll continue pushing the time lower is unknown at this point, but probably not for the time being.

EDIT: Seems that the inventory screen can be exited quicker by pressing Escape, instead of navigating to the "OK" button. This would likely save several more seconds.
